Reservation fee

The reservation fee is exactly 0.00053 ETH and is non-refundable. The payment collector rejects both underpayment and overpayment.

Why does the reservation fee exist?

The fee is deliberately small, but it is real ETH, not a free action. Requesting a name costs nothing to attempt, so without a fee attached to the payment step, the review queue could be filled with large-scale automated spam at no cost to whoever sent it. A small, non-refundable fee makes that costly to do at scale while remaining low enough not to meaningfully block a genuine registrant.

The fee does not buy approval, priority, or a guarantee of any kind. It pays for entering the review queue for a specific name; see Why a reservation step exists for how that review step itself works.

Annual registration and renewal

Effective length counts only lowercase letters and digits. Dots and hyphens do not reduce the price tier.

Total registration price is the annual fee multiplied by the selected number of years. The smart contract derives this value from the normalized name and duration. The browser cannot supply a lower price.

Network fee

Base network gas is paid in ETH and is not a Hyndle protocol fee. The interface shows an estimate separately from protocol fees and never adds gas to msg.value.
